Having recently purchased a brand new Canon EF 600mm f/4 L IS II lens, I felt I really couldn't put it to good use until I had the lens barrel protected in some way. I've been a fan of RealTree camo for a while...it does an excellent job breaking up shapes making it harder for birds and wildlife to identify you. The RealTree Max4 HD LensCoat for the 600mm f/4 lens is an excellent way to protect your very expensive investment. It often helps you go unidentified, even to within unusually close distances of your wild subjects. Combined with some RealTree hunting pants, a RealTree camo jacket, and companion RealTree LensCoat covers for my tripod, I can get within headshot distance of deer, elk, etc., and still have them behave naturally as it no threat were present at all. When it comes to birds, it really depends on the bird and your technique, however having a camo LensCoat on your lens definitely helps break up its shape and improve your ability to get close and get frame-filling shots.Highly recommended for any expensive lens owners. For anyone using supertelephoto f/4 lenses, I'd say protecting your lens is essential to maintain its value and protect it against the elements and anything grabby and scratchy along trails. This LensCoat does the job.One small note, not all of the pieces are removable. Some of the pieces must be cut from a strip with a sticky back, and stuck to the lens. This is really not a big deal, however over time, if you don't keep each of those strips clean and well stuck to the lens barrel, dust and other particulate will eventually result in the pieces falling off. Pieces that begin to exhibit a lack of stickiness in the corners can be fixed by cleaning whatever particulate is stuck to it, and applying some kind of weakly bonding adhesive (so you can remove them later without pulling off paint).
