NoThis was recommended by a doctor friend who specializes in foot and ankle issues- which I have suffered from for years. This was an instant fix for the issue and very comfortable.I am having a bad time with bone spurs and the Achilles tendon area, especially on one foot. This PediFix Visco-Gel Achilles Protection Sleeve was recommended to me by my podiatrist’s office. I ordered a size S/M for my size 7 women’s feet. It fits with room to spare. I find the sleeve makes a big difference in the pain/stiffness of my foot by padding the Achilles tendon area. However, I think they are overpriced. I ordered the 2-pack so I can always have a clean sleeve available, so the cost was slightly less per sleeve. I plan on buying a less expensive brand next time and will see how they compare. These gel socks are made in Taiwan and packaged in the USA.This is exactly what I have been needing as all of my shoes recently(especially the dressy kind,) for reasons unbeknownst to me, have been digging into the back of my Achilles about 2 to 3 inches from the bottom of my heel. I have started an exercise regimen, which only made it much, much worse. I can deal with friction blisters on the bottom of my foot, mildly sore, but manageable and wanes as your feet get used to working like they should. The pain from these friction wounds(not blisters) was unbearable, and would snuff out many a jogs, walks, etc before they could become beneficial to my weight loss. Of course I went through a myriad of prevention techniques, quality cloth bandages that "stay on all day" simply didn't once my skin become sweaty and was rubbed away by the back of my shoes. I did research online and moleskin is what was recommended by many for similar issues. I purchased some of that and tried it out, it worked great until I started working up a sweat - they periled the same as the bandages. I kept jogging as I felt a little discomfort, just assuming that it was from the sore area that was already there, but by the time I got back from my jog/walk my Achilles was burning. I was sorely mistaken, the moleskin had rubbed off and the back of my running shoes had scraped away enough flesh to make me bleed. Again I had to put off the exercises until my Achilles would heal. Knowing I was going to need something considerably more tough and durable, I set out for a few days of online research- not knowing what products existed for this problem, as well as what search terms to type into Google to get me a result different from moleskin recommendations. I found these puppies on Amazon, and by the description - they sounded like they would remedy my problem. They work fantastically! I have been using them for over a week, and no pain, no chafing, no blood. They stay in place pretty well, and have enabled my to walk/jog again. The silicone-like gel pad is attached very well to the material, and stretches along with the cloth. I just wish they made something similar for the ball of your foot(big blister area). I will post a before(moleskin) and after(after a week of using these sleeves), the before is a little graphic - but a necessity in showing the benefit of the product.this needs to come in a medium. small cuts off circulation. large bunches up uncomfortably.PROS- works well to keep my shoe from rubbing the back of my heel- helps to absorb the impact when my heel strikes the ground- blends well with my skin tone so it's not highly visible while wearing it- easily hand washed and dries quicklyCONS- occasionally the sleeve twists around so the silicone padding ends up on the side of my ankle, even when wearing it in combination with a sock- the sleeve falls down and bunches up around my ankle and I have to keep pulling it up- the silicone padding needs to be a little longer in order to provide full coverage to the back of my heel while still giving me enough cushion on the bottom of my heelI read the reviews before purchasing this product and the sleeve twisting around is a common issue. I would like to offer a SUGGESTION TO THE MANUFACTURER, which might resolve the ISSUE of the sleeve TWISTING and FALLING DOWN -- ADD A RING OF SILICONE to the top of the sleeve so that it will grip the skin and therefore prevent it from slipping around on the foot.Overall, I am mostly satisfied with my purchase, considering it does a pretty good job at what I need it to.This sleeve works perfectly for my Haglund's Deformity. However, wasn't sure on the sizing chart and ordered the large, which is HUGE. I wear a woman's size 9.5 wide shoe. YOU CANNOT RETURN OR EXCHANGE THIS ITEM. So make sure you order the correct size.I play ice hockey regularly and have been struggling with Haglund's deformity on both of my heels, which can be extremely painful in a hockey skate. Particularly, forward flexing of the foot pushes the heel hard against the unpadded heel cup of my skates and causes intense pain that was making it difficult to get through a game. I had tried a few things, like moleskin pads that I cut out and put directly on the bumps, but that was tedious and would cost a good bit over time. I was looking for something better when I came across these on Amazon.For $20 per sleeve, and knowing I would need 2, I was concerned that they wouldn't be what I was looking for and I would be out $40. But, I have been extremely pleased with them thus far after having used them for 4 games. I wear these over top of socks and they manage to hold in place well enough to get them down into my skate without them shifting.The difference they make in cushioning my heels is dramatic, so that pushing off and accelerating is no longer painful at all. This has made my hockey games a fully-enjoyable experience and I am a better player for it.If you have Haglund's and struggle with playing a sport, give these a try for sure. The experience of playing pain-free is worth the cost and more.Like...has helped quite a bit so my shoe is not rubbing at the insertion point of my Achilles Tendon. Hopefully it will allow my tendonitis to heal. I have ordered 2 more.Pas assez confortable et pas durable.I spend almost $70 on this product. I ordered smaller one. It was too loose for me. Material was very thin. The ad is also misleading, I only got 1 sleeve instead of pair.
